Yandex Saint Petersburg IV Office by za bor architects

When thinking of creative workspaces, Russian IT company Yandex always comes to mind. Over the last few years za bor architects have delighted us with vibrant and creative designs, in particular the Saint Petersburg location. The location originally started with 1800 m² office space in 2008, however by 2014 the office has grown to occupy almost 10,000 m² and three floors, the fourth one already occupying the third floor of Benua Business centre.

Having a long history of working together, za bor architects were commissioned once again to design a new entire floor for the Saint Petersburg location. The clients requested an ‘interesting office which would be combined well visually with a very bright part located on the fifth floor, and with more private offices on the fourth floor’.

The design elements have slightly changed over the years to keep up with the company’s identity. What started as colourful 2d iconography, has now transformed into 3D symbols incorporated everywhere from wall cutouts, to furniture, and even wayfinding solutions. Whatever the changes were throughout the years, the designs made sure to keep the graphics as recognizable contours of the symbols familiar to the search engine users.

The office spaces stretch along a 200 meter long corridor, featuring plenty of negotiation rooms and informal communication zones. In order to provide a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, the architects incorporated shower rooms, a dining-room, coffee stations and recreational zones.

The cheerful and playful atmosphere has been kept, creating a seamless transition throughout the years. From bright colours, moss walls and fun furniture, Yandex’s office seems like a fun place to work in.
