Tuareg designed by Ferruccio Laviani for Foscarini resembles an artistic installation more than a conventional floor lamp. References to the world of contemporary art stand out among Laviani’s sources of inspiration, ranging from echoes of land art to hand crafted architecture. The elegant tubular structure features a surprising “ordered chaos” with astonishing stability and harmonious shape balance.

The lamp’s structure is perfectly balanced by two invisible ballasts, featuring thin branched tubular elements joined together with visible screws. Tuareg is equipped with three LED light sources that can be adjusted 360º, and switched on and off completely independently. The incredible technology behind the product made possible concealing the power cables so that only a single electric cable exists within the structure of the lamp.

A distinguishing trait of all Laviani’s work, color plays a fundamental role in this project. Different color tones define the silhouette of the lamp and reveal its intimate nature.

Tuareg comes into two different finishes: an orange which echoes the industrial feel of the anti-rust paints used to treat tubing, and black chrome resembling scaffolding.

The ability to switch the three light sources can be turned on and off separately emphasizes Tuareg’s versatility multiplying its potential uses. It can be used as a reading lamp, a wall lamp or a floor lamp that lights by reflection. Tuareg’s ideal position is in large spaces – such as entrances, halls, executive offices and showrooms – also when used in compositions, it truly takes the center stage.
