2014 was an inspiration year for industrial design lovers, from innovative techniques and materials used in furniture, to elegant and inspiring lighting fixtures. There was no shortage of new products to inspire us and make us revise our ever-growing wish list. Take a glimpse back at the Top 10 Industrial Design Posts throughout 2014.
1. Moulds by Jan Plecháč & Henry Wielgus
The designers used old wooden moulds found in Lasvit’s warehouse and handmade crystal bulbs, showcasing the contrast between the delicacy of crystal, and the rustic beauty of wooden forms.
2. Crystal Rock by Arik Levy for Lasvit
Arik Levy created a series of roughly cut hand-blown glass pendants for Czech lighting specialist Lasvit, that look more like precious gems than lighting fixtures.
3. Cell LED Carpet by LAMA Concept
Dutch designers Yvonne Laurysen and Erik Mantel from LAMA Concept designed an inspiring eco-friendly wool felt carpet that features embedded LED lights.
4. David Trubridge launches new designs at Wanted Design NYC
The news of David Trubridge new product additions has been received with much anticipation. The collection included not only new additions to his kitset system, but also furniture pieces, and jewelry.
5. Arper Introduces Zinta Modular Sofa
This sofa comes in an unexpected amount of variations. The diverse lengths and angles, as well as the large variety of fabric combinations, allow for an endless combination that would suit any setting.
6. BuzziPicnic Table by Alain Gilles for Buzzispace
The award wining BuzziPicnic is a versatile indoor picnic table that can either serve as a common eating table, a gather point for group interactions, a temporary working space, or just a bench.
Copper was a huge inspiration throughout 2014. This post features six of our favourite copper lighting pendants.
8. Ochre introduces new collection
In 2014 Ochre launched a new collection of lighting and furniture that captures the essence of the brand: proportion, texture, contrast and finish.
9. Vlad Butucariu reveals ultra slim wooden laptop stand
Vlad Butucariu has launched his first Kickstarter campaign featuring an ultra slim laptop stand design aiming to improve posture and easy typing. The campaign was a great success. If you were one of the pledgers, soon you will be in the possession of your own FLIO.
10. Mood by René Holten for Artifort
Internationally renowned company Artifort, together with designer René Holten, created a sleek upholstered bucket seat with five different bases, four different styles of upholstery, and a great selection of colours and fabric options.
