Moved by nostalgic memories of his barber uncle, and the news that the Old Barbershop in the historic heart of Milan has closed its doors, Italian designer Vito Nesta created a lamp inspired by the form of a classic shaving brush. As with most of his designs, the Sbarbino Lamp is a reflective piece that reinterprets childhood memories to create ‘new realities’.
The memory of childhood is under the magnifying glass of Vito Nesta. It begins with looking in the mirror with your hands, comb and scissors ready to dive on our head, and the eye falls there on that brush, the tuft of hair held together by steel grey.

As an ode to craftsmanship, the Italian designer takes a classic everyday object, and presents it in a completely different ‘light’. The oversized lamp features sinuous honey-coloured glass to represent the brush bristles, and a silver coated ceramic base to accurately mimic the brush steel handle.
The first of a series of objects that once again, starting from classic and history, dresses elegant simplicity of Vito Nesta to reintegrate with a bright new life.
