Earlier this year Hulger launched through Kickstarter the second Plumen low energy light bulb. The Plumen 002 follows the success of the Plumen 001, an alternative to the 60W incandescent light bulb. Unlike the Plumen 001, ideal for bright lit areas, the Plumen 002 produces a soft light ideal for creating ambiance. The sinuous lines of the light bulb offer a sculptural alternative to fixtures that have the naked bulb on display. If you ever had any doubts that a light bulb can be sculptural, see the new Plumen 002 stunning installation for the Design Museum Tank.
The Plumen 002 is an energy efficient alternative to the 30W incandescent light bulb. The light bulb can be used anywhere a filament is available, saving energy without losing any of the magical light qualities.
We love the incandescent style bulbs – the warm and the patterned light they create is beautiful and seductive, making a lovely atmosphere wherever they’re placed. The only problem is, these bulbs are the most inefficient of all. To put it in perspective a Plumen 002 light bulb requires less than 25% of the energy to power than a 30W incandescent light bulb.
The Plumen 002 sculptural form makes it suitable for a variety of applications. We admire the simplicity of one pendant, yet we love the sculptural qualities of 002 when grouping several together. This should come to no surprise, considering the designers were inspired by the sculptural works of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.
The versatility of the design gives you endless possibilities, from neat and organized to lose and organic. The low brightness also means its cozy intimate light needs no shading.
