Ping Pong Stratford Restaurant by Superfutures

Superfutures has recently completed the renovation of the Ping Pong Stratford Restaurant at London’s Westfield. The contemporary Dim Sum restaurant was transformed into an oasis, by introducing visitors to the urban side of 1930s Shanghai chic, through custom-made artwork, splashes of paprika red, Jade green and charcoal grey.

Superfutures coordinated every design element, from the elegant furniture and bar stools, to custom-made artwork, lighting and panelling. The design concept references the intriguing and traditional side of old China, brought to life by bold iconic artworks and attention to details.

The main feature wall within the restaurant includes more than 6000 anodized metal discs in a fish scale pattern. The pattern and colours elegantly reference the old side of China with a modern twist.

Near the entrance, the cocktail bar was cladded with ‘dragon skin’ effect tiles as an ‘enviable destination’ for customers to indulge in the artesian cocktails Ping Pong is known for. The bar is surrounded by custom-designed furniture.

The dim sum counter has been brought forward into the restaurant, creating an interactive and authentic experience for the customers watching their dim sum being prepared in front of them in giant steamers. The counter is further enhanced by a custom designed light box that wraps around, drawing attention to the custom artwork designed by artisan graphic designer.

The tea ceremony station shows off the authentic Chinese culture, with customers being invited to experience the ceremony of their tea in front of their eyes. Iron tea pots stacked high on shelves among boxes of tea pilled one on top of each other further enhance the authenticity.

From the bold artwork, to custom elements, Superfutures elegantly designed every detail of the space. The new look of the restaurant gives visitors an enchanting experience by introducing them to the traditional side of Old China through a 1930s modern interpretation.
