Nyhavn Vase by Normann Copenhagen gets bigger

Normann Copenhagen has recently introduced a new and large version of their characterful Nyhavn Vase. Designed by Danish designer Simon Legald, the collection features a distinctive and well-rounded silhouette. The Nyhavn vases are characterized by shiny white neck and foot that contrasts beautifully with the dusty shades of the matt finished centre.

The colours have been inspired by the dusty shades of pastel seen on the houses in Nyhavn harbour, Copenhagen. The sizes and dimensions of the vases reflect the varying heights and widths of the houses. Nyhavn is a cosy harbour area in the middle of Copenhagen and is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions with a history dating all the way back to 1671.

My design is often characterised by an interplay between tradition and craftsmanship. I really like working with archetypes and this vase is no exception. I have based the design on the idiom of three different techniques and combined them all to create a both recognisable and new expression.

The Nyhavn vase is available in four different sizes and eight different colours. The smallest model is available in white and coral orange, the medium in light grey and sky grey and the large in black and mineral grey. The new X-Large vase is available in a cream and a plum coloured version.
