Swedish manufacturer Mitab and Oliver Schick have created a lightweight and functional wooden chair. The inspiration behind Layer was a tower of stacked chair. The chair legs are fixed between an upper and a lower seat shell, what makes it a lightweight but durable sandwich structure.
The unique design and construction of Layer makes the chair appear as if it was built out of one piece of wood. Each part of Layer is made out of plywood with CNC milled contours, an exciting contrast between the industrial way of manufacturing and natural materials.
The manufacturing method where 2 layers are created makes Layer lightweight and comfortable. The addition of the hole in the backrest makes the chair easy to grab. The chairs are available in natural ash or black stain as standard, but additional colours can be custom ordered.
