Artifort has launched a new cosy armchair designed by French designer Patrick Norguet. Named Kalm, the chair features a high back and clean lines that make it appropriate for residential as well as commercial spaces.
To me, Kalm is a statement. The clean and expressive lines set it apart from other big armchairs. This chair brings to mind a lifestyle that is vital and vibrant. The cushion literally forms the basis for the design archetype. I covered it with a large protective shell that seems to both embrace and envelop it. The design also explores the possibilities of different base executions, such as a pedestal base and wooden legs.
– Patrick Norguet
According to Norguet, it is also ‘an expressive armchair that is suitable in any project environment. Several Kalm armchairs grouped together will definitely define a hotel lobby or meeting room and create a distinguished and iconic image.’
The chair uses a semi-circular shell that defines the backrest and arms and is attached to the underside of the seat cushion. The base of the chair is available as a metal swivel cross base in stainless steel or powder coated, or as 4-legged wooden base. Kalm can also be combined with its matching Ottoman, which has an upholstered cushion in the same shape as the cushion in the chair.
