Drawing inspiration from the flavours of Rome’s historic Esquilino neighbourhood, DesignAgency created a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere with subtle ethnic flair for Generator Hostels. The lobby is a bright, gallery-inspired room programmed for live music and art. The design team sourced vintage oil paintings to further emphasize the gallery nature of the space, which adds to the sense of discovery.
The airy café is the perfect spot to enjoy an espresso at one of the communal tables. White tile and distressed plaster walls, oak floors, and light bentwood furniture contribute to the space’s alluring nature.
The bar is designed to feel like a treasure collection found on a Roman explorer’s voyage through the Far East. Neon orange archways, colourful patterned floors, bottle-green wall tiles, and a scaled-up palm wall covering create the background for this eclectic space. Above the bar, a crush of red lanterns adds Asian influence, conjuring up the Old World in a modern reincarnation.
