Duffy London are known for their bold and innovative creations, which often play on the concept of gravity, illusion and geometry. The Shadow Chair is no exception. The design of the chair tricks the eye, giving the impression it defies gravity. At first glance the chair appears to be standing only on the two front legs. However, on a closer inspection, the shadow reveals itself as an integral part of the chair.
The shadow, which is in fact a steel base, cleverly uses the power of optical illusion to make the chair appear it defies gravity. The body of the chair comes in several options: steel, walnut and polished stainless steel.
All chairs are hand made by local artisans and can be ordered directly from Duffy London’s website.
Without a shadow of a doubt this chair will have you mesmerised by its gravity-defying abilities. No, it’s not a magic trick by Derren Brown, it’s a trick of the eye by Duffy London; the secret is that the shadow is actually part of the chair.
