The Doodle Sofa designed by Front design studio for Italian manufacturer Moroso immediately captures viewer’s attention. The striking shape of the sofa was designed from half a circle that was folded to form the seat and backseat. The sides of the sofa were then tucked in to create the armrests. While the simple yet edgy form creates a pleasing appearance, the eyes are immediately drawn to the intricate pattern on the leather surface.
The Swedish designers were inspired in creating the pattern by their own doodles done during the design process. They describe the decorations as “a kind of by-product of Front’s creative process”. The “half-conscious” creative act of doodling is captured perfectly in this elegant and intriguing design piece. The designers not only manage to deliver a striking finished product, but they also manage to present viewers with a story behind the concept.
