Tom Raffield has designed a lighting collection inspired by the movement and beauty of a butterfly in full light. Taking its name after its source of inspiration, the Butterfly Collection includes a Floor Lamp and a Pendant, both showcasing stunning sculptural forms.
The intricate bent wood form creates intricate shadows and produces stunning lighting effects. The collection is made by hand in Cornwall, England from sustainable sourced wood and finished with an eco-friendly, non-toxic varnish. The collection is available in oak or walnut.
I think about the shadows the light will cast around it as well as the form itself.
– Tom Raffield
The pendant and floor lamp work great with the award winning Plumen low energy light bulb. The sculptural shape of the light bulb complements the Butterfly Collection perfectly.
Tom Raffield describes the entire thought process on his blog, going in great detail how he reached the final design. Take a look at the process behind the Butterfly Pendant!
You have a chance to see the Butterfly lights alongside other new releases at the upcoming 100% Design in London this September.
