We have seen a big return of handcrafted furniture pieces that celebrate craftsmanship. In today’s 3d-printed dominated design world, we are happy to see craftsmanship is still holding strong. John Jacques designs have been making headlines for his craftsmanship, but also recognized for his immense contribution to the design industry. His designs are characterized by tactile organic shapes, exquisite technique and naturally textured wood.
His award-winning ‘Original Magnetic Stack Drawers’ for Treniq encompass the beauty of craftsmanship with the functionality and design aesthetic of modern design. The design was awarded the ‘Best New Product’ Award by ‘The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers’ at Interiors UK 2014 exhibition.
The Original Magnetic Stack Drawers is a modular stack of beautifully conceived drawers. Using the power of magnets, the drawers can be arranged in any number, any order and in any pattern. With many uses around the home or office, this is a truly versatile and ergonomic design.
I try to make things that become part of people and their story. I like to make furniture relevant to now, using old techniques to say something new.
– John Jacques
The stack drawers are made out of a variety of woods like Walnut, Elm, Sycamore, Cherry and Oak, ‘celebrating the beauty of trees growing all around us’. The beauty of the design is in the different ways it can be stacked in. We love the contrast between the natural woods. The stack of drawers becomes more than storage, it is a sculptural piece that brightens any interior.
‘The Original Stack Drawers’ are available for sale on Treniq, where they can be bought in two or more pieces.
